Partnership Philosophy and Values
Healthy Abbotsford is committed to a "relationship-based" philosophy. We work diligently to foster strong working relationships between our partners and other government agencies, community organizations, the private sector, and individuals. We achieve this by creating specific strategies and measures to nurture and expand relationships committed to the same vision.
The Abbotsford news contributes to healthy living through a regular healthy living section meant to inspire community members to live healthy lives. The Abbotsford News supports Healthy Abbotsford initiatives through in-kind advertising space, design concepts and expertise in promotional strategies.
The City of Abbotsford provides the overall coordination of the Healthy Abbotsford Partnership and strategic plan. This includes providing resources to coordinate community events and programs; maintaining the Healthy Abbotsford website; and showing leadership by ensuring that health living is a high priority within the City of Abbotsford.
Fraser Health Authority provides a valuable link between the health sector and the community by contributing public health expertise and community health information to the Healthy Abbotsford Partnership. Their input helps to set the strategic direction of the partnership and to evaluate the impact of our efforts.
The Abbotsford School District is pivotal in ensuring that the message of healthy living reaches students and their families by providing a venue for teaching about healthy living, assisting to deliver information on Healthy Abbotsford initiatives and providing expertise on engaging children and youth in adopting healthier lifestyles.
The University of the Fraser Valley provides expertise in health education and research valuable to inform the activities of Healthy Abbotsford. As well, UFV provides access to school employees and students who can play a lead role as healthy living advocates in the community.
As the work of Healthy Abbotsford continues to grow and expand our network of partners also expands.
Abbotsford Community Services strives to be an agency that fosters community well-being and social justice through positive action and leadership. Each year almost 40,000 come through our doors looking for help through one or more of our 80 programs.

- From newcomers in Canada to people with developmental disabilities – we help people feel like they belong.
Abbotsford Division is one of 34 Divisions of Family Practice across the province. Each was created by doctors for doctors, and focuses on the priority issues specific to our individual communities. Our goals are to enhance patient care throughout the front-line health care system, to build a network of support for our family doctor colleagues, and to create healthier communities.
PSFV provides dedicated sipport to more than 150 registered athletes and coaches, in addition to hosting community sport programs and events for youth and adults. Through partnerships with recreation departments, school districts, health authoriries and local sport organizations, PSFV delivers programming for the Canadian Sport for Life movement, improving teh quality of sport and physical activity in Canada.
